Supernatural episode 9.10 "Road Trip" Preview.

WARNING: AHEAD BE SPOILERS!

OMGGGGGGG. The winter hellatus (known to me as the summer hellatus) is final OVER.

Are we ready? Are we? ARE WE? (The correct answer is yes!)

So what do we know about episode 9.10 "Road Trip"?

THAT IT'S GOING TO HURT. Oh, sorry...

Here's the synopsis:

DEAN’S BEST CHANCE OF SAVING SAM LIES WITH CROWLEY — Dean (Jensen Ackles) is devastated after Kevin’s death and vows to find the angel that killed him, not only to free Sam (Jared Padalecki), but to seek revenge. Castiel (Misha Collins) arrives at the bunker and suggests they try to separate Sam’s brain from the angel’s so they can talk to Sam and have him expel Gadreel. However, there’s one small problem: the only person who knows how to do that is Crowley (Mark Sheppard). Robert Singer directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb.

Guh! We're in for a rough ride, along with our glorious Winchesters! Poor babies.

The last episode Bob Singer directed was 9.04 "Slumber Party" and the last episode Andrew Dabb wrote was the wonderful 9.02 "Devil May Care", one of my favourites of the season. So yes, great team! We also get to see our four lead actors all together. Jensen and Jared of course, but alongside them Misha and Mark. What a day on set that must have been.

We know that Jensen has said that this episode and the mindset of Dean that starts here and follows in future episodes, was very difficult for him and was difficult for him to leave behind. So I don't know about you, but I'm going to have the Kleenex handy!

We're going to have to deal with the aftermath of "Holy Terror" alongside Dean and that includes not only the loss of Sam, which of course is going to rip Dean into tiny pieces, but also the death of Kevin.

Dean's going to be in a world of hurt and self-hate.

I'm interested to see how Team Free Sammy captures the angel Gadreel and gets him all trussed up in that chair in a way that will keep him there. I'm guessing it's not just with duct tape! I laugh every time I see this promo pic. Why did they put Crowley in such a little chair! Hilarious.

I'm only going to include the actual promo for "Road Trip" not the season 9 promo, because we're not entirely sure which bits in that promo are from 9.10, 9.11 and 9.12.

So here's the promo we know is 9.10.

Deal with the devil.  Well, when it comes to Sammy, whatever gets the job done. We know how Dean rolls when it comes to Sam.

I'm assuming that poking things into poor Sammy's pretty head is going to neutralise the angel enough to allow Sam to regain consciousness and eject Gadreel. I guess. Maybe.

I'm totally cool with Dean doing a deal with Crowley...like I said, for Sam, whatever gets the job done, but also, I want Crowley out of the dungeon and I love him, so I'm happy for him to be out there being a royal pain in the Winchester's perky asses!

Seriously though, what do they do to get Gadreel in that chair and bound. There's no Holy oil so it must be some other angel containment method that Crowley is across...or maybe Cass? Hmmm. Intriguing!

Okay, how about the sneak peek...

Ack. I just see pain here... Dean pain, in his voice and body and... Ack. I'm already feeling all wobbly. Gosh I can't wait for this episode.

Like I said, I'm not going to include the season 9 promo, because though we know there's 9.10 "Road Trip" vision in it.... (funeral pyre anyone? A-waahhhhhh), there's plenty from 9.11 and 9.12 as well. But, just in case you haven't seen it (where have you been?) click here.

I always look forward to a new episode of Supernatural and particularly after a break, but I am so very excited for this episode. "Holy Terror" was just that for all of us and how it ended left us all in emotional ruin!

I needed the next episode straight away, but instead I had to wait 6 weeks!

6 weeks to find out how Dean picked himself up off the floor (and how long he stayed there).

6 weeks to find out how Dean faces giving Kevin a hunter's burial.

6 weeks to find out where Gadreel went with Sammy's body.

6 weeks to find out how Dean, Castiel and their unlikely ally/frenemy Crowley, capture Gadreel.

6 weeks to find out if we get Sammy back and if he's okay, or if he's still duct tape and safety pins on the inside.

6 weeks to find out what the emotional backwash will be between Sam and Dean.

6 DAMN WEEKS! *shakes fist at television programmers*

I think this has been one of the toughest mid-season cliffhangers I've had to get through!

So I'm turning all phones, twitter, everything off. I'm going to have Kleenex, chocolate and maybe a bit of booze at the ready and my dog on hand for cuddles.

I'm so ready for whatever comes! Bring on the pain and the angst and let's get this done so we can have our lovely brothers back, hopefully on the same page...you know, eventually!

HELLATUS IS OVER! (For a few weeks.)

What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments.

Enjoy the episode! It's going to be awesome. I can feel it in my waters!

STOP THE PRESSES! CHCH PROMO!

A-HA! Angel blade bullets? Just like when Crowley shot the ill fated Ion!

I'm spinning out a tad about Crowley using Dean's gun to do this and I'm not entirely sure why, but it weirds me out. I don't like it. Dean's. Gun.

Anyhoo...

Yay! Have fun. Wait. FUN? What the hell? I'm obviously delirious with the anticipation.

New episode day! Huzzah!

  1. I'm all sorts of excited, fearful, angsty and READY for the end of this horrid break! I'm trying to brace myself for impact because I know we're going to hit and when we do, it's going to be hard and it's going to hurt. The episode right before the break was painful enough so to know that it's going to get worse before it gets better means my heart will end up in a zillion shattered pieces for sure. Anyone have super glue I could borrow? Please?

  2. I was so busy looking for glue I didn't finish! See? That's what this Show does to me! It gets me flustered!

I'm thrilled Crowley will be walking about getting some air. He's far too fun to keep hidden away even though playing with him is akin to playing with the fires of hell!

    1. Oh me too! Let's get that guy out of there! And yes...it's going to be a tough few weeks I think!

  3. I think I'll be a wreck by tomorrow night... I'll already be emotional because I'll be melting (Melbourne's heatwave) and then this episode is sure to be gut-wrenching (but we love it).

To say I'm looking forward to the episode would be an understatement, lol. But I'm also looking forward to reading your thoughts afterwards :)

  4. When I saw the last CHCH promo and saw Crowley shooting, my instant thought was the same - he's shooting Dean's gun which makes me terrified of who he is shooting at. Kleenex is a must. I should buy stock, or something. I can't wait to see how this all plays out, and I'm scared. to. death!
