The Light on Spoilers, Heavy on Bow Chicka Wow Wow Preview of Supernatural 11x13 "Love Hurts"

-by sweetondean

Okay, maybe the bow chicka wow wow thing is wishful thinking... But...yessss we get another Valentines episode! But remember the last one? Dean soooo wasn't in the mood, and Sam was jonesing for demon blood, and those two virgins on their first date ate each other! GROSS! And then it ended all sad with Sam locked up and Dean praying... It was a seriously NOT SEXY! But my fingers are crossed for this one...maybe...Dean will be in the mood this time! Sexy times Dean is always welcome! And seeing as his little brother got a bit this season,  surely it's Dean's turn!

Rightiho...where did we leave off?

SAM AND DEAN GOT A HOME COOKED MEAL and it was adorable and funny and bitter sweet. And the Wayward Daughters rocked! And we all felt good. Which is unusual after this show.

We're in Monster of the Week territory at the moment. As is normal around this time in the season, we have a couple of stand alone episodes, which can turn out to be myth alone - but generally speaking aren't heavy on the mythology, rather the season arc is referenced, and then the brothers go on a hunt. Like last week. So that looks like what we're getting again this week... with a Valentines twist!

Let's check out the synopsis!

“Love Hurts”

WHO DO YOU LOVE? - Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a set of murders on Valentine’s Day and discover they are dealing with an ancient curse. Once kissed by the curse, the person is marked to die. Phil Sgriccia directed the episode written by Eric Charmelo & Nicole Snyder (#1113).

Phil's last episode was 11x02 Form and Void, btw this is the 32nd episode he's directed since season 1! This is Eric and Nicole's 2nd episode this season, their last one being "Plush".

Will one of the bros get kissed by the curse? Sounds like the kind of luck they have!

Let's look at the promo!

Well... I see no sexy times here! But I do love that Dean has a LOT! Apart from that, we get more lovely domestic scenes in the bunker, some gore, some action and hot Fed suits with long coats!

Oh and this...

And this...

Here is the sneak was very late this week (which is why my preview is late!), but it was worth waiting for to see hungover, sweaty, sexed up, hickey wearing, smelly Dean, and zinger, snappy one liner Sam...

"Can't help it if I'm a hopeless romantic" "You got half of that right" BOOM! I can't get enough of these over the kitchen table in the Bunker moments. Oh gosh I love the brothers when they're like this! They've always been so great with the teasing of each other...this scene is seriously adorable. Dean helping all the single ladies...*raises hand*. I'm glad Dean got his Unattached Drifter Christmas on! Oh Dean...Mr Right Now.

And Ackles and his freakin' comedy...he's damn hilarious! Honestly. So great at this physical comedy.

These day I'll die from Winchester sassy love overload.

Having the Winchesters at a place where they're emotionally open to these kind of moments, where they can tease each's pretty gosh darn great. Seriously great. Great. GREAT!

Anyway, enough of my gushing Winchester coloured rainbows - which would be plaid.

I think this looks like a fun, and probably gory one...just right for Valentines Day! But you never know with this show just what will unfold...serious talk looks serious. (But probably not about what they should be talking about...)

Oh and, the show gave us a little Valentines in the shape of an artsy trailer cut... which was lovely of them!

Enjoy the episode, everyone!

Oh and...before I forget...

  1. Jensen Ackles, master of physical comedy!! Loved the way he stumbled in way hungover, lol! I too love the zingy exchanges between the brothers, the way it should be. I can't help feeling though that their setting us up to break our hearts in future episodes with all these great moments. Thanks again for a great preview, yours is the only site I enjoy going to every week!!

  2. It's really interesting seeing the network and show promos in close proximity like this--they're doing such completely different things it's hard to believe they're both about the same show, let alone episode. I know you've touched on promo-making a little in the WoL podcast, but would you consider discussing it a little more in-depth? I think if I'd watched the episode on the basis of the network's promo, I'd have been side-swiped by the actual tone of the thing. (As a regular viewer, I've come to completely disregard the network promos for anything other than visual clues--they're so misleading when it comes to the story.)
