So I've been meaning to do this post for a while, but life and stuff...you know how it gets! Now we're nearly done with Hellatus! Hallelujah! So I thought I best pull my finger out! There will be some spoilers later, but I'll give you plenty of warning!
First things first... congratulations to Jensen on his People's Choice Award! Such exciting news, and accepted...for us fans anyway...in such a gracious manner. Bringing in the other Supernatural cast member nominated - Misha...and his kettle. How very Jensen. It was a super cute and super adorable video. And the whole thing totally made my day!
So Jensen and Misha both have an individual People's Choice Award, and Jared has a Teen Choice Award, which seems somehow fitting seeing as he's the youngest of the trio!
Anyway, congratulations Jensen, you are a remarkably talented actor who dedicates a lot of time to the fans who voted for you. It's so nice to be able to give you something back. Your passion for your character oozes out of every performance. No one loves Dean as much as you...not even me! And I know some people poo hoo the PCAs, but really, for guys like the Supernatural team, who have such an awesome relationship with their fans, getting an award specifically from their fans would be a lovely boost. So yay Jensen! Yay team Supernatural! No let's relive the awesomeness of the presentation of the kettle!
PAGING DOCTOR SEXY!
Here's some exciting news, Matt Cohen has scored a gig as the new hot Doc in town on General Hospital! When Matty was down here in Aussie just before Christmas, he said he had some exciting news but that he wasn't allowed to share it yet. Guess this was it!
This is from the Soap Shows website
"It looks like General Hospital (GH) has a hot new doctor on staff in the form of actor Matt Cohen.
Cohen makes his Port Charles debut early next month as Dr. Griffin Munroe. With Dr. Drake now in California (and on The Young and the Restless), GH needed a new doc stat, and Dr. Munroe can fill a very large hole.
The talented actor has previously appeared on 90210, How to Get Away With Murder, Supernatural, and South of Nowhere. We don’t know much about Dr. Munroe just yet, but might he be the doc Lucas mentioned could help Sonny? Stay tuned…"
It's always so great to see part of the family land a new job! Well done, Matt! He's been on a roll lately!
In other casting news Curtis Armstrong is heading to Major Crimes!
Curtis Armstrong has been tapped to reprise his role from The Closer as Peter Goldman on spinoff Major Crimes, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Armstrong will first appear in the Feb. 15 winter premiere and return as the attorney who became infamous for having helped bring down former Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick). This time, he's turning his sights on Capt. Sharon Raydor (Mary McDonnell) and Assistant Chief Russell Taylor (Robert Gossett) for their seeming indifference to murder in gangland communities.
Very cool for Curtis!
This week also saw the LONG AWAITED release of the Tough Mudder video! Oh my gosh...we have been waiting patiently for this one. Actually, probably not that patiently! I made the release of the video Rob's New Year's resolution on his behalf!
I have to say, the video was amazing. Amazing that these guys did this thing together as a team, and then shared it with us. It made me cry at the end (THANKS ROBBIE!) and then made me ponder for days how damn blessed I feel to have these guys, this show, this fandom in my life. They are such a team and you can see how close all of them are. We're so lucky. No other fandom has this. These guys and what has been built from this show and the relationships formed because of it is unique. Also, UNDERWEAR GATE. Obviously Ackles has no issue with getting his kit off! Weeeeeeee! The whole thing was just a damn treat!
We had the TCAs this week. That's when all the TV networks get together and do press panels for their network and various shows. Last year Supernatural got a super early pick-up for season 11. Unfortunately this year, the CW has yet to announce any renewals...but that's not cause for concern. The network is bedding down a couple of schedule changes/new nights as well as new shows, so I'm sure they're still assessing their overall schedule. Nothing has had renewal news at the CW.
And according to the CW top guy, Mark Pedowitz, Supernatural is performing stronger this year - it sits as third highest rating show on the network, behind The Flash and Arrow - and as long as the creative team behind Supernatural want to keep making it, it has a home on the Network.
"My answer to Supernatural's [future], from the day I've gotten here—and I've been pretty consistent—is if they can keep telling stories and the numbers keep holding and the guys want to do it, we're going to try and keep going. I can't tell you if [the not-yet-ordered] season 12 is the end, I can't tell you if season 15 is the end. I can't tell you it won't outlast my tenure at The CW. My guess is, it will outlast me. I think, creatively, the studio and the showrunners and Jensen and Jared will come to us first and say this is it, this is it, we're out of juice, and we'll deal with it. But at this point, I don't think anyone's out of juice." - Mark Pedowitz
I've always thought - well in recent years since the show has been doing so well and has had such strong network support - that it'll be Jensen and Jared who decide when it's time to garage the Impala forever *whimpers at the thought* But it doesn't sound like they're there yet. Fingers crossed we'll hear news soon!
Here is a great article about Misha's trip to Nicaragua with Random Acts. I love the way they describe him....
Collins himself is something of an enigma. Boisterous and dynamic, with a litany of riotous anecdotes, his stage demeanour falls away quickly as crowds dissipate, giving others a glimpse into something much softer — something empathetic to the plight of those to whom life hasn’t been so kind. A self-described introvert, he speaks intellectually and with a gentle fondness for kindness and complex humanitarian causes.
Introvert ah? Okay Misha. No, actually I can see that...one on one he's kinda quiet!

It's convention season! And there's some exciting news about an alternative convention happening in May. The Ladies of SPN con is being held at the Shoreline Convention Centre in Seattle May 13 - 14.
So far they have announced guests included cast members, Nicki Aycox, Lindsey McKeon, Brit Sheridan and Jessica Heafey, and crew members Zabrina Matiru (makeup), Charmaine Clark (hair), as well as my friend Lynn Zubrenis from Fangasm, and fandom musician Caitlin Obom.
What a great lineup! Tickets are already on sale. For more information check out their Facebook page and Twitter.
Here's a few more headlines!
Sera Gamble, former Showrunner and Writer for Supernatural, has her new show The Magicians starting on SyFy. The Pilot has already screened, but the series kicks off officially on January 25. It's based on the books of the same name, and stars the Alpha Vamp, Rick Worthy!
Felicia Day has nabbed a new role, she will be starring in the reboot of Mystery Science Theatre 3000. She will be playing a mad scientist. I can see it.
Baby got a bit of a write up! The News Wheel posted an article about how the Impala is a demon hunter's dream! You can read it here.
Jared is featured in a new documentary about depression and suicide, talking about his experience through loss of friends as well as the Always Keep Fighting campaign. You can watch the trailer here. (Please be aware that some content from other people featured in this trailer may be distressing.)
Okay...on to the spoilery part of this post, so if you don't want to look... avert your eyes! Scroll down until you see Frodo and the goat!
One last warning... just scroll to Frodo and the goat...without looking...
So if you're still with me, you want spoilers!
Here's a little something from TV|Line:
Executive producer Jeremy Carver promises "some fairly shocking turns right from the jump" when the series returns. While Sam seriously ponders Lucifer's offer to be his vessel, Dean will struggle with the question of whether he has "the strength to admit to himself the hold that [Amara] has on him and admit this to others," Carver previews. "Him doing that is going to lead to some pretty interesting results." Castiel, who seems to have fallen into a showhole, will return "in new and unexpected ways," and his quest to repair his mojo will lead to "startling consequences" for all. As for that other MIA figure, "the idea of God and, 'Where is God? Will God show himself?'...will be heavily debated," Carver shares. Also on tap: Bobby/Rufus flashbacks, a case within the world of professional wrestling and the show's version of Das Boot.
TV|Line also gave us a heads up on episode 15 of this season - which heads to the wrestling ring and will co-star WWE champ, The Miz! PLEASE TELL ME DEAN WILL BE WEARING TINY LITTLE WRESTLING SHORTS! What? Oh sorry...got distracted by the pictures IN MY MIND! Okay...so here's what the article says!
The Miz may soon have the Winchesters in a figure four leg lock. Supernatural has tapped WWE champion Mike “The Miz” Mizanin to guest-star on an upcoming Season 11 installment, TVLine has learned exclusively. As we previously reported, Episode 15 will go inside “the world of small town circuit wrestling, which is going to be a lot of fun,” executive producer Jeremy Carver says. In the hour, former Real World housemate Mizanin will play Shawn Harley, a young, upstart professional wrestler with a temper to match his talent. Harley wants to rise in the ranks, and will do so by any means necessary.
We also got some absolutely fabulous news regarding Bobby and Rufus!
Jim will appear via flashbacks in Episode 16, alongside Steven Williams as hunter Rufus “Dean and Sam are going to be investigating an old case that was once investigated by Bobby and Rufus,” in what would have been Season 5, executive producer Jeremy Carver tells TV|Line.“There’s a lot of great throwbacks to things that happened” during that season, including the wonderful relationship between Bobby and Rufus. That’s going to be a really neat episode.”
SOUNDS AMAZEBALLS! I'm so excited to see these two back.
How about this? Dee Wallace - who played the mum in E.T., amongst a million other things, will be guest starring in episode 11!
Here's the synopsis for that episode:
“Into the Mystic”
Sam and Dean investigate a case where people are suffering violent deaths after hearing a mysterious song. John Badham directed the episode written by Robbie Thompson.
And in more exciting news about our favourites, the wayward daughters are all going to be in one ep!
Kim is back, along with Kathryn and Katherine...are they K2?
It'll be episode 12 and here's the synopsis:
“Don’t You Forget About Me”
Sam and Dean drop in on Jody Mills, Claire and Alex after receiving a panicked phone call from Claire. She believes the recent murders in town are supernatural and wants the boys’ help. However, Sheriff Mills tells Sam and Dean that Claire has been getting into trouble lately as she’s been attacking normal people and accusing them of being monsters. Stefan Pleszczynski directed the episode written by Nancy Won.
And here's some more information from The Carver as to some of what's coming up, via EW.com
“We’re really happy with the back half of the season,” showrunner Jeremy Carver tells EW. Giving a few details on the upcoming return of Jody Mills, Carver says: “For the last season and a half, we’ve watched the boys essentially dump the characters of Alex and Claire on Sheriff Jody Mills’ doorsetep, and [in episode 12], we’re going to visit those three to see actually what kind of family they have or have not become. It’s a funny and an emotional episode watching these three women essentially trying to survive each other under one roof. Throw in Sam and Dean and it’s a fun episode.”
But Jody Mills isn’t the only returning face featured in season 11. As fans know, Bobby and Rufus will be back for an episode. “Coming up a bit later, we’re going to see the boys come across a case and realize they are investigating a case that was investigated years earlier by Bobby and Rufus,” Carver says. “And we’re going to watch Bobby and Rufus investigate this case as well. That’s a really cool, scary, nostalgic episode.”
And then there’s another episode that Carver is particularly excited about: “We will be going back in time for an episode and we will be essentially spending an episode on a World War II-era submarine with American soldiers of the time,” he says, explaining, “It’s basically our version of Das Boot. The whole production team has just done an absolutely astounding job, so that’s a really cool episode.”
A this morsel from TV|Line
The show’s return this Wednesday features the first scene between all five of its major players — Dean, Sam, Castiel, Crowley and Rowena — and it falls under the category of “strange bedfellows,” says Carver. “Everyone has an axe to grind as we move into the second half [of the season]… Fans should expect shifting allegiances, alliances and some fairly shocking turns right from the jump.”

And that's it for spoilers! What a cracking bunch!
It's only a few days now until the new episode! OH MY GOD YESSSSSSS THANK YOU CHUCK! Crikey. I can not wait. We need Sam outta hell STAT!
It seems like so long ago we had that episode, and though we had some cool sightings of the boys...like when they went shooting together...
Or when Jared selfied with EVERYONE at the Spurs game in San Antonio.
Or when they holiday together in the Napa Valley with their families post Christmas..

It feels like ages since we've seen them! But convention season kicked off this weekend in Jacksonville and the show is back next week...so yay! IT'S ALL HAPPENING!
I'll be back in a couple of days with my preview of episode 10! Until then...thanks for reading!

Awesome to have your articles back. I'm so excited for the upcoming episodes - the Wayward Daughters, Bobby & Rufus, Robbie Thompson's episode, Dean getting Sam outta Lucifer's clutches. Whee!
ReplyDeleteI hope the Bobby & Rufus story is about what happened in Omaha!
Side-note: I would like a photograph with Kim, Kathryn & Katherine. Then it would be a K4 photograph ;)
Glad to see you back! Missed your news. Aren't you exited about the next episode? I am so much. Everything that seems coming is great. There are so many questions still hanging in the air that I am bursting. :)
