In that sentence, I heard Dean promise to protect Jack from others trying to hurt him, as well as a commitment to end Jack as needed. Am I putting too much thought into one sentence?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02578222892165348744noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5468827929342532499.post-63103851247207805512017-11-03T07:55:34.474+11:002017-11-03T07:55:34.474+11:00Let me just say, I found your reviews less than a ...Let me just say, I found your reviews less than a week ago, and I am LOVING reading through them! It's great seeing another person's take on this wonderful story that I've fallen in love with, and even though I'm a Sam-girl, and you're a Dean-girl, I greatly appreciate your insights into BOTH characters. :) Because, in the same way that you love love LOVE Dean, you also clearly love Sam too, and understand how important they are together, (and don't shamelessly bash one to try to make the other into a saint, as I've seen people do on both sides of the brother-fence,) I feel that way about Sam. I love love LOVE the character, but I also love Dean. Even when I want to knock BOTH of their heads together, which has happened more than a few times over the seasons.

As for this season, I'm loving how the writing is going so far. Because, even though I'm on Sam's side with the whole Jack issue, I also completely get why Dean is where he is. I get why he cannot let himself hope, because as we've seen at various times in the past, for Dean hope can almost be more of a burden. Like in Season 3 in regards to his deal, and Season 10 in regards to the Mark. Eventually for him, hoping things could get better made it HARDER to deal with the situation. So, though some may cry that he's being mean, and all, I see him as going into full on protection-mode. And, some of his points are valid. And he knows that if Sam's wrong, someone has to be ready to do what needs to be done.

As for Sam, he's also playing true to character. Historically speaking, Sam clings to hope like a life ring in the middle of the ocean. Because for him, sometimes hope is all he's had. It's all that's kept him going when he was facing his own dark destiny that everyone (even his brother a few times,) told him was inevitable. Hope is how he deals with his own grief. He tries to find something positive he can do, some way to make a change on the situation. And even though he and his brother are on different pages entirely, (hell, they're almost in different books) they're still facing the problem together. You're right, they have matured a lot over the years, and neither one is willing to leave the other.

(Sorry this is so long!)

So yeah, thank you for your wonderful reviews and insights into this awesome show. :) Sumirahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05530227731964017797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5468827929342532499.post-287241895700165072017-10-25T01:26:14.106+11:002017-10-25T01:26:14.106+11:00That is why I read reviews of episodes and I apolo...That is why I read reviews of episodes and I apologize if Anna takes what I say harshly but I feel need to defend Dean not sure why its like I get all protective of him and not sure why ugh again sorry Anna was not trying to be harsh. But like I said protective of him and its like we are two episodes in and its like good lord people give dean a break its like he will come around to Jack just give him time. I can't wait to see them start bonding. But Sam said it what dean's state of mind is right now and why he feels need to protect the world and sam from jack. And agree with you and again love yours and jules show and enjoy Hawaii :) suebsg9@gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09499124352159380265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5468827929342532499.post-33339985516047564772017-10-25T00:32:33.775+11:002017-10-25T00:32:33.775+11:00The question is if Jack is Kelly's son or Luci...The question is if Jack is Kelly's son or Lucifer's? Does he have a soul or a grace (or what Lucifer is having or missing)? One thing is obvious -he's a man with superpowers and presents a huge threat both for people and himself. I'm afraid that he will repeat the fate of Crowley's offspring, not literally of course, but...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5468827929342532499.post-48624946116473614042017-10-23T20:39:53.986+11:002017-10-23T20:39:53.986+11:00Thanks for your comment, Julie :)Thanks for your comment, Julie :)sweetondeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01521111526235603389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5468827929342532499.post-72188487589862512502017-10-22T20:22:48.619+11:002017-10-22T20:22:48.619+11:00Great review as always Amy. Also loved this episod...Great review as always Amy. Also loved this episode like the 1st one so much great scenes between Sam, Dean and Jack. Great performance by both Jared and Jensen, the emotional scenes coming early this season. Love the connection Sam is having with Jack, just hope it doesn't blow up in his face. Seem to have some interesting characters this time, not too sure about the AU scenes yet, don't hate them but I'll wait and see. The end scene with Dean and Jack had me wondering whether the conversation should have been longer with Dean trying to say he would be the one to kill Jack as he didn't want Sam to go through that again. Madison anyone?!! Can't wait for rest of season to see which way this goes.Julie Hughesnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5468827929342532499.post-12841743972251510832017-10-22T16:24:43.187+11:002017-10-22T16:24:43.187+11:00HI Anita - that's how I read it too, Jack does...HI Anita - that's how I read it too, Jack doesn't want to go bad, Dean won't let that happen, if it comes to it, Dean will stop him - before Jack does something he doesn't want to do but can't control. Dean's been in those shoes.
Thankfully I haven't seen much Dean shit, but I know it's out there... People often read him very harshly, and I find that sometimes some wilfully misunderstand him. I no longer read that stuff. We've known him for 12 years, he is an astonishing human under extreme circumstances trying the damn best he can to hold everything together including himself. He doesn't always make the best calls, and sometimes he can be too fixed in a path, sometime we don't like how he reacts, but in this case he does not lack a single justification in having genuine concern over Jack. From past experience, to not worry would be fool hardy. They have to look at both possible outcomes. So if Sam's all in and wants the hopeful outcome, if for no reason than just in case, Dean has to look to the other side. Kinda why they make a good team. But Dean's struggling. Let's give him time to find his feet again before we throw him to the wolves. If Sam can understand him, surely so can we.

Thanks for your comment :)sweetondeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01521111526235603389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5468827929342532499.post-5411090631376140932017-10-22T16:03:35.797+11:002017-10-22T16:03:35.797+11:00Hey Amy, loved your review as always. I have to sa...Hey Amy, loved your review as always. I have to say I have been blown away by the first 2 episodes this season, so damn good!!! The boys have been amazing and Alex is a perfect fit as Jack. This episode tho had me a bit upset at times. I see Sam's point of view, but Dean's also and at times I wanted to cry at the tone/vibe Dean is giving off. He's so broken, sad and really struggling, so I agree that he's too scared to hope that Jack is anything good. The conversation between Dean and Sam at the table, I was divided about the tone Sam took when talking to Dean, almost berating him. But Sam know's Dean so well, know's how to get through to him. I don't know, maybe it's just my protective instinct where Dean is concerned, lol!! Jensen's eyes killed me in that scene, why is he so damn good!! Loved Sam and Jack scene in the alley, Jared was amazing. Also, the fight scene, hot damn Dean's legs, I was um.. ok I won't go there, lol and that knife throw, hot!! The au scene's I'm not fussed by really, I have to confess not a Lucifer fan but so far the scene's aren't really annoying me. The new Michael look's interesting tho, we'll see I guess. The scene that seem's to be getting a lot of flack, the end Dean and Jack scene, I think Dean was just being Dean, as in he was in a way reasuring Jack that he'd stop him if he couldn't control himself. The amount of crap I've seen being thrown at Dean after this episode, sometime's I just have to walk away! Anyway's, this episode in all was great, amazing acting and beautiful shot's from the master Tom Wright. Wow, sorry I went on so much, lol! Until next time, ciao!!
